Uttoxeter ( (listen) yoo-TOK-sit-ər, locally also UTCH-it-ər) is a market town in the East Staffordshire district in the county of Staffordshire, England. It is near to the Derbyshire county border. It is situated 14 miles (23 km) from Burton upon Trent, via A511, A5121, A38 and A50 14 miles (23 km) from Stafford, via A513 and B5013 16 miles (26 km) from Stoke-on-Trent, 20 miles (32 km) from Derby and 11.3 miles (18.2 km) north-east of Rugeley via A518 and B5013 The population was 13,089 at the 2011 Census. The town's literary connections include Samuel Johnson and Mary Howitt.
